Residents of Banane, Habaswein and Diff wards in Wajir South have benefited from improved access to clean and reliable water following the official handover of four major water infrastructure project sites by the Wajir County Department of Water.
The projects are aimed at delivering critical investments in water storage, pipeline expansion, solar-powered pumping systems and rehabilitation of existing water facilities serving both people and livestock.
Wajir County Deputy Governor Ahmed Muhumed Aato said the developments reflect his commitment to addressing water challenges and improving the quality of life for communities across the county.
“These interventions will strengthen water supply systems, support institutions such as schools and mosques, and improve access to water for pastoralist communities whose livelihoods depend on reliable water sources,” said the Deputy Governor.
New water tanks, pipelines, solar systems, water kiosks and livestock watering facilities will be installed and rehabilitated in Banane Shantral, Waregader, Adhedeer and Salalma boreholes.
Deputy Governor Aato said collaboration with development partners remains key to expanding access to essential services and accelerating development across the county.
He reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to ensuring the successful completion of the projects so that residents can benefit from sustainable and improved water services.
