Garissa Assembly Invites Public Views as Public Service Board Nominees Face Vetting

Share:

The Garissa County Assembly has invited members of the public to submit memoranda and comments on three nominees seeking appointment to the Garissa County Public Service Board ahead of approval hearings scheduled for later this month.

The Assembly said the Committee on Appointments said it will conduct vetting hearings for the nominees on 29 June 2026 at the County Assembly Chambers in Garissa.

The nominees are Abdikadir Gure Farah, Naima Hassan Farah and Muhumed Abdi Oyow, who have been shortlisted for positions on the county’s Public Service Board.

The Assembly called on residents and stakeholders to provide information that may assist lawmakers in determining the suitability of the nominees for public office. The submissions are expected to be made through the Office of the Clerk before the deadline set out in the public notice.

The nominees have also been directed to submit vetting documents, including academic and professional certificates, tax compliance records, integrity clearances and certificates of good conduct from relevant government agencies.

The approval process is being conducted in accordance with constitutional and statutory requirements governing public appointments, including provisions of the Constitution of Kenya, the County Governments Act and the Public Appointments (County Assemblies Approval) Act.

County Public Service Boards play a critical role in managing human resource functions within county governments, including recruitment, promotions and oversight of public officers.

The notice underscores the Assembly’s oversight mandate and the importance of public participation in ensuring transparency and accountability in public appointments.

The vetting hearings are expected to determine whether the nominees meet the legal and ethical standards required to serve on the board.
