The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will conduct a 30-day Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise from March 30 to April 28, 2026.

The nationwide voter registration drive is aimed at expanding the country’s voter roll ahead of 2027 general elections.

The announcement was published in a special issue of The Kenya Gazette under Gazette Notice No. 4490. It outlined a nationwide campaign that will be conducted across all constituency offices and designated registration centres.

According to the commission, the exercise will allow eligible Kenyans who have attained the age of 18 to register as voters, provided they possess a valid national identity card or Kenyan passport.

In addition to new registrations, the exercise will also facilitate transfer of voting stations, correction and updating of personal details, and verification of voter information.

The IEBC stated that registration services will be available daily, including weekends, throughout the exercise period. However, the commission noted that the process will not take place in electoral areas currently undergoing by-elections or active election petitions.

“The public is notified that there shall be enhanced continuous voter registration of voters from Monday, 30th March 2026 to Tuesday, 28th April 2026,” the notice reads in part.

Voters seeking to transfer their registration to a different electoral area or update their records are required to present themselves physically at their respective constituency offices.

IEBC indicated that separate arrangements will be communicated for Kenyans living abroad and those in correctional facilities.

The exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by the IEBC to strengthen electoral participation and ensure the accuracy of the national voter register.

Upon conclusion of the ECVR period, continuous voter registration will resume at constituency offices countrywide.

The commission has urged all eligible citizens to take advantage of the exercise and participation in civic duties that shape the country’s democratic future.

“Your vote is your voice. Register today,” the IEBC said in its public advisory.
