Wajir Deputy Governor Ahmed Muhumed Aato has called for the full implementation of sustainable revenue generation strategies.

Mr. Ahmed Muhumed said it holds the key to accelerating economic growth and improving public service delivery across the country.

He was was a panelist at the National Productivity and Performance Conference 2026 in Nairobi. Mr. Aato said Kenya stands to achieve significant development gains if resources generated through innovative revenue streams are effectively mobilised and absorbed.

“Implemented to the hilt, Kenya will experience growth in leaps attributable to the absorption of the resources so generated,” he said.

Aato was among panelists at the three-day conference convened by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) under the theme, “Productivity for Fiscal Sustainability and Efficient Service Delivery.”

The conference brought together senior leaders from the national and county governments, policymakers, private sector representatives, academics, civil society organisations and development partners.

The meeting explored practical strategies for enhancing productivity, strengthening fiscal sustainability and improving service delivery.

The deputy governor underscored the importance of the forum as a platform for dialogue and collaboration among key stakeholders tasked with driving Kenya’s development agenda.

He said the conference provided an opportunity for delegates to exchange ideas, share best practices and identify innovative approaches that can enhance productivity within public institutions.

According to Aato, increased productivity and prudent management of public resources are essential for achieving efficient, responsive and citizen-centred service delivery.

“The forum offers an opportunity to generate actionable policy interventions that will strengthen productivity and contribute to better service delivery across all sectors,” he noted.

The discussions focused on ways of improving performance in the public sector while ensuring fiscal sustainability amid growing demand for government services and limited resources.

Other panelists included Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu, Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) Chairperson Mary Wanyonyi and Makueni Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili.

The conference was held at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi and is expected to inform future policy reforms aimed at improving public sector efficiency and enhancing revenue mobilisation at both national and county levels.
