Religious leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, national cohesion and responsible leadership as the country prepares for the 2027 General Election.
The commitment was made during an interfaith dialogue convened by the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB), which brought together representatives from the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) and the National Council of Churches of Kenya to discuss issues of national importance.
The meeting focused on peacebuilding, electoral integrity, responsible leadership, national unity and efforts to combat hate speech ahead of the next general election.
The KCCB delegation was led by Bishop Eusebius Atamallo, while the NCCK was represented by Dr. Agola and Rev. Kanga. SUPKEM’s delegation comprised Executive Officer Aisha Nyanchoka, Programmes Coordinator Hassan Kulundu and Head of Strategy and Partnership Jaafar Katana.
During the discussions, SUPKEM reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with fellow faith-based organisations and other stakeholders to strengthen peacebuilding initiatives and foster reconciliation across the country.
The council said collaboration among religious institutions remains critical in promoting peaceful coexistence, safeguarding constitutional values, strengthening national unity and encouraging responsible leadership for Kenya’s stability and development.
The dialogue also underlined the importance of collective action against hate speech and divisive rhetoric.
