Garissa gubernatorial candidate Ambassador Mohamed Shidiye met representatives of Auliyahan University students at his residence in Garissa Town, as he intensifies consultations ahead of the upcoming county elections.

The meeting formed part of Shidiye’s ongoing engagements with youth, professionals, and community stakeholders across Garissa County, as he positions himself as a leading contender for the governor’s seat.

The former legislator and diplomat has consistently emphasized inclusive leadership and community-wide development as key pillars of his campaign.

Ambassador Shidiye is expected to formally submit his application on Saturday, January 18, to the Auliyahan Geet Sultanate and its committee.

The process is anticipated to culminate in an endorsement, with his supporters expressing confidence that he will receive backing from across Garissa County.

Amb. Shidiye reiterated his commitment to serving all residents of Garissa, highlighting the role of education and youth empowerment in driving sustainable development in the county.

“I believe the future of Garissa lies in empowering our young people and building institutions that serve every segment of our society,” Shidiye said.

He was accompanied by several prominent leaders, including Modogashe MCA Mahat Abdikadir, Garissa County Assembly Majority Leader Mohamed Abdi Farah, Galbet MCA Abubakar Khalif, and former County Assembly Speaker Idiris Sahal.

Also present were Auliyahan professional elites led by Hassan Duale, as well as representatives from community women’s groups, including Umulas.

Shidiye’s allies described his engagement with students and community leaders as a demonstration of his grassroots approach and readiness to lead the county.

The gubernatorial race in Garissa County is expected to draw significant interest, with several candidates already engaging communities ahead of the polls.
