The chief executive officer of Garissa County Teaching and Referral Hospital, Mr Mahat Sheikh Salah, has inspected facilities and assessed infrastructural needs to ensure compliance with health regulations, as the county steps up efforts to improve healthcare delivery.
Mr. Salah toured various sections of the regional referral hospital where renovation and construction works are ongoing.
The inspection aimed to ensure that quality standards are met and projects are completed within the set timelines.
The renovations are part of a wider program to modernise healthcare infrastructure at the referral hospital, which is a lifeline for Garissa county and more than eight other neighboring counties .
Planned and ongoing projects include the construction of new facilities, operating theatres and specialised units such as cancer care centres children ward, which are expected to improve access to essential services.
CEO Mahat Salah said the upgrades are intended to enhance patient safety and service quality while supporting the county’s drive towards universal health coverage.
