Former senior government administrator Mohamed Ahmed Maalim, popularly known as Kadenge, has declared his ambition to serve the people of Wajir East as their next Member of Parliament, promising to bring decades of public service experience, integrity, and results-driven leadership to the constituency.

Maalim is widely known for his distinguished career in the National Government Administration, where he served Kenya for more than three decades. During his long career, he rose through the ranks to become a senior administrator, earning a reputation as a disciplined and principled public servant who prioritized service delivery, accountability, and effective coordination of government programmes.

Throughout his career, Maalim was known as a firm but fair administrator who believed that leadership is about solving problems, protecting public resources, and ensuring government services reach every citizen regardless of their background.

Speaking to RTG News, Maalim said his decision to seek the Wajir East parliamentary seat was motivated by a desire to continue serving the people through elective leadership.

“For more than 30 years, I served Kenya with honesty, discipline and commitment. I now want to use that experience to serve the people of Wajir East in Parliament. Leadership is not about making promises; it is about delivering results that improve the lives of our people.”

He said Wajir East has enormous potential but requires focused leadership capable of effectively lobbying the national government for development resources.

“Our constituency deserves quality representation. My experience in government has given me a clear understanding of how public institutions work, how resources are mobilized, and how development projects can be implemented efficiently. I want to use that experience for the benefit of every resident of Wajir East.”

Education will be one of his key priorities if elected, with Maalim pledging to strengthen bursary programmes, improve school infrastructure, and support students from vulnerable families.

“No child should miss education because of poverty. I will work to expand bursary opportunities, improve learning facilities and ensure our young people receive the education they deserve.”

On the long-standing challenge of water scarcity, the former administrator said he intends to work closely with both the national and county governments to support sustainable water projects.

“Water is life. We must invest in boreholes, water storage, and reliable distribution systems so that our communities have access to clean and safe water throughout the year.”

Maalim also identified healthcare, road infrastructure, youth employment, women’s economic empowerment, and support for local businesses among his top priorities.

He noted that unemployment remains one of the biggest challenges facing young people in the constituency.

“Our youth are talented and hardworking. They need opportunities, skills training, access to government empowerment programmes and an environment that allows them to create businesses and employment.”

Drawing on his extensive experience in public administration, Maalim believes he is well placed to strengthen service delivery and ensure greater accountability in the use of public resources.

“Public resources belong to the people. Every shilling allocated to Wajir East should translate into visible development, better schools, improved healthcare, good roads and economic opportunities for our communities.”

He also emphasized the importance of unity and inclusive leadership, saying sustainable development can only be achieved when leaders work together with residents, religious leaders, professionals, women, youth, and elders.

“My leadership will be open, consultative and inclusive. Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous Wajir East where every citizen has the opportunity to succeed.”

Kadenge has conducted meet the people tour in several parts of the Country meeting his MasareCommunity but knowing the Cosmopolitan nature of Wajir East Constituency he has also lined up series of meeting in the near future. He has so far toured Wajir, Tana River, Garissa, Coastal Counties, Nairobi and Kajiado.

As the race for the Wajir East parliamentary seat gathers momentum ahead of the 2027 General Election, Mohamed Ahmed Maalim says his campaign will focus on experience, integrity, accountability and practical solutions aimed at improving the lives of the people he hopes to represent.
