The Indian Navy’s guided-missile frigate, INS Trikand, is on a port call at Mombasa Port from 7 to 10 April 2026 for an Operational Turnaround (OTR), a key phase of its ongoing deployment in the Western Indian Ocean.
INS Trikand, a frontline frigate, is on a mission to strengthen maritime ties with African nations as part of India’s MAHASAGAR initiative, aimed at enhancing regional security, cooperation, and maritime presence.
During the visit, the ship’s crew will engage in professional exchanges with the Kenya Navy, fostering collaboration and sharing best practices on maritime security, safety, and operational readiness. Upon completion of the port call, INS Trikand will participate in a Passage Exercise with a Kenya Navy vessel to enhance interoperability and operational coordination at sea.
The visit highlights India’s commitment to promoting regional stability and strengthening partnerships in the Western Indian Ocean Region, reinforcing mutual interests in safe and secure maritime domains.
INS Trikand’s port call provides an opportunity to deepen bilateral naval ties, advance joint capabilities, and underline the strategic importance of sustained maritime engagement between India and Kenya.
