RTG Digital, a media platform under Royal Halann Service, has announced the launch of daily news transmissions in both English and Somali from Garissa as part of its expansion into Northern Kenya’s growing digital media space.
The bulletin will focus on delivering timely news, current affairs, business updates and community stories targeting audiences across the North Eastern region and the wider Somali-speaking community in the Horn of Africa.
Chief Executive Officer of Royal Halann Service, Mr Yunis Dekow, said the move forms part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen local media production and expand access to credible digital journalism in underserved regions.

The five day broadcasts will cover politics, development, education, health, business and humanitarian issues affecting communities in Garissa, Wajir, Mandera and neighbouring counties.
According to Mr Dekow, RTG Digital will leverage online streaming platforms and social media channels to reach audiences locally and internationally, especially the diaspora community seeking reliable updates from the region.
The new venture is also aimed at creating employment opportunities for young journalists, producers and digital content creators in Garissa.
Royal Halann Service said the station will begin rolling out its programming in phases, with plans to introduce talk shows, interviews and special feature segments in the coming months.
