Nairobi will host the International TVET Conference 2026 from September 9 to 11, bringing together leaders, practitioners and development partners to examine how stronger collaboration between industry and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions can improve skills development and employment opportunities.
The three-day conference will be held at Mövenpick Hotel & Residences under the theme, “Skills That Work: Advancing Industry-TVET Collaboration for Sustainable Skills and Global Competitiveness.”
The conference will provide a platform for stakeholders to exchange experiences and explore approaches for ensuring that TVET programmes remain responsive to changing labour-market demands.
Organisers say the event will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, technical sessions and networking engagements focused on the future of skills development and the role of partnerships in strengthening TVET systems.
Up to 500 registered participants are expected to attend the conference, with participation subject to registration.
A public exhibition will also run alongside the conference, providing an opportunity for the wider public to engage with innovations and practical solutions emerging from Kenya’s TVET sector.
The exhibition will showcase student projects, hands-on demonstrations, emerging technologies, training solutions and applications developed through TVET programmes.
The conference comes amid growing emphasis on skills development as a pathway to employment, entrepreneurship and economic competitiveness, particularly as industries respond to technological change and evolving workforce requirements.
The organisers say closer links between training institutions and industry can help bridge skills gaps by ensuring that graduates acquire competencies that are relevant to the workplace.
The conference will also provide an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss practical measures for strengthening cooperation between employers, training institutions, policymakers and other partners in advancing sustainable skills development.
The International TVET Conference 2026 will conclude on September 11 at the Mövenpick Hotel & Residences in Nairobi.
