Garissa politician and former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) women’s representative flagbearer Mulki Warsame has endorsed President William Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027.
She citedwhat she described as tangible development gains delivered by the Kenya Kwanza administration in Garissa and the wider north-eastern region.
Warsame said the ruling party was steadily implementing the commitments it made to Kenyans during the 2022 election campaign, including investments in agriculture, infrastructure, affordable housing, healthcare and job creation.
“We made a commitment to the people of Kenya to transform lives and build a strong foundation for a first-world economy. What we are seeing in Garissa today is evidence that this promise is being honoured,” she said.
She pointed to the ongoing construction of the 150-metre Tana River Bridge and its approach roads along the Ukasi–Garissa–Modika road, saying the project would significantly improve mobility and safety once completed.
“The bridge will ease the movement of goods and people and reduce the risks residents face during the rainy season, when transport disruptions are common,” Warsame said.
The politician also highlighted the 205km Isiolo–Kulamawe–Modogashe road upgrade to bitumen standards, describing it as a strategic investment that will connect Isiolo to Mandera while strengthening trade links with Somalia and Ethiopia.
Traversing Meru, Isiolo, Garissa, Wajir and Mandera counties, the road is expected to boost regional trade, spur economic growth and promote integration across northern Kenya.
On aviation and trade infrastructure, Warsame said the government’s plan to upgrade the Garissa airstrip into an international airport would unlock the region’s economic potential and improve access to markets and investment.
She added that the national government had introduced mechanisms to decentralise passport processing, allowing residents of Garissa and neighbouring counties to access the service locally instead of travelling to Nairobi.
Addressing housing, Warsame said millions of Kenyans were still living in informal settlements under poor conditions, a situation she termed unacceptable.
“That is why the affordable housing programme remains a key priority,” she said.
She added that President William Ruto inspected the ongoing construction of the 408-unit Garissa affordable housing project, which aims to provide decent and dignified shelter for residents.
In the health sector, Mulki Warsame said the Kenya Kwanza administration was committed to expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare.
“We are building a truly national political movement whose vision goes beyond generations,” she said. “We challenge our competitors to present their scorecards and explain to Kenyans what better plan they have for the country.”
Mrs. Mulki Warsame reaffirmed her support for President Ruto and the UDA party, saying continuity in leadership was necessary to complete and sustain the ongoing development programmes.
