Garissa County Teaching and Referral Hospital CEO Mahat Sheikh Salah has urged staff to improve the management of medical insurance claims to enhance patient care and service delivery.
Salah chaired a meeting with the hospital management team, including insurance billing specialists, insurance claims processors, medical coding supervisors, and insurance underwriters.
He emphasized the need for accuracy and timeliness in processing insurance documentation.
“The proper handling of medical insurance claims is essential for both hospital operations and patient satisfaction. Every patient deserves confidence that their insurance claims will be managed efficiently,” he said.
The CEO instructed insurance claims processors to verify policy details, assess claims, ensure proper documentation, and assist patients in understanding their coverage and options.
The team is tasked with verifying patients’ information, creating invoices, updating procedural codes, and ensuring claims are processed without delays.
Mahat Salah noted that the facility is working closely with public and private insurers to strengthen healthcare service delivery for Kenyans.
He added that the administration of health insurance and social health programmes should assist patients in completing claim forms, providing accurate information about the services rendered, including dates, procedures performed, and any supporting documentation required.
“This ensures that claim forms are correctly filled out and increases the likelihood of successful claim submissions,” he said.
He urged officers to help reduce errors in billing, speed up reimbursements, and enhance transparency in medical insurance claims handling.
“We are committed to patient-centred care and efficient service delivery to ensure that patients can access their entitled benefits without unnecessary delays,” Salah said.
Garissa County Teaching and Referral Hospital remains committed to improving healthcare administration and fostering accountability in insurance claims management.
