Former Wajir South Member of Parliament Abdullahi Mohamud Dirirye, popularly known as Dakalow, has called for unity among the people of Wajir County.
The former lawmaker emphasized peace and collective responsibility in building the region’s future.
Speaking while attending a community function in Banane Ward, Wajir South, amr. Diriye urged residents to embrace cohesion across clans and political affiliations.
He noted that unity remains the foundation for sustainable development and effective leadership in the county.
Mr. Diriye served as Wajir South MP between 2013 and 2017, is currently a member of the Tax Appeals Tribunal (TAT), having been appointed by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) in 2023.
His political experience also includes serving as a member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) elections board during the 2022 general elections, where he played a role in overseeing the party’s internal electoral processes.
During his time in Parliament, Mr. Diriye served on the Joint Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity as well as the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, roles that aligned with his advocacy for inclusivity and sustainable resource management.
Between March 2013 and April 2016, he distinguished himself as an active legislator, making 194 contributions to parliamentary debates—an indicator of his engagement in national legislative affairs.
Mr. Diriye told residents who attended the Banane Ward function that calls for unity are critical at a time when communities are seeking stability, development, and inclusive leadership.
Diriye reiterated that meaningful progress in Wajir County can only be achieved through collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to the common good.
