Entrepreneur and Siyad Foundation founder Haji Siyad Abdalla, EBS, MBS, OGW, has congratulated the winners and participants of the 2026 North Eastern Region Secondary Schools Sports Championships following the successful conclusion of the three-day tournament in Takaba.
The championships, held from July 20 to 22, brought together secondary schools from across the region to compete in various disciplines, with the event celebrating talent, discipline and teamwork.
Mr. Siyad Abdalla described the tournament as “a remarkable celebration of talent, discipline, teamwork and regional unity,” saying it had inspired young athletes while strengthening bonds among schools across the region.
He commended Regional Director of Education Adan Roble for his leadership in coordinating the championships and thanked the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) North Eastern Region officials, teachers, coaches and referees for ensuring the event was successfully conducted.
Abdalla also praised parents, sponsors, security personnel and volunteers for supporting the tournament, while applauding participating schools and students for demonstrating discipline, resilience and exemplary sportsmanship.
The regional champions were crowned as follows:
- ■ Soccer Boys – Takaba Mixed Secondary School
- ■ Volleyball Boys – Furaha Boys Secondary School
- ■ Volleyball Girls – Wajir Girls Secondary School
- ■ Netball Girls – Hon. D.M. Girls Secondary School
- ■ Basketball Boys – Takaba Day Secondary School
- ■Basketball Girls – Rhamu Girls Secondary School
The winning teams will represent the North Eastern Region at the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association National Championships in Kiambu County.
Abdalla urged the athletes to compete with courage, integrity and determination as they carry the region’s hopes to the national stage.
“We wish you safe travels and resounding success as you fly the North Eastern Region flag high,” he said.
The Siyad Foundation was among the supporters of the championships, reaffirming its commitment to promoting youth empowerment through education and sports across the North Eastern region.
