The Cabinet Secretary for Health Aden Duale and Mr. Nathif Jama, the Governor of Garissa County, officially commissioned the Ebola Preparedness and Isolation Facility at Garissa County Teaching and Referral Hospital on Sunday.
The facility is aimed at strengthening the county’s capacity to respond to public health emergencies.
The centre is designed to enhance surveillance, isolation and case management in the event of a suspected or confirmed Ebola outbreak, while improving the county’s overall emergency preparedness.
The leaders reaffirmed the national and county governments’ commitment to protecting public health through investments in critical healthcare infrastructure and coordinated disease response systems.
The launch comes as Kenya continues to bolster its preparedness measures against regional Ebola risks despite having no confirmed cases. Health authorities have emphasised readiness, early detection and rapid response as key pillars of disease prevention.
