Kenyan media personality and comedian Jaymo Ule Msee has converted to Islam, adopting the name Hakeem Amir Malik after taking the Shahada at Jamia Masjid in Nairobi.
Jaymo, whose real name is Wilson Muirania Gathoni, announced the move on social media, describing it as a deeply personal spiritual rebirth.
“Today I begin again… my steps are guided by faith, service, and purpose,” he wrote.
The announcement drew widespread reactions online, with many followers praising his openness and sincerity.
Jaymo is widely known for his sharp humour and bold social commentary. He has worked at major radio stations including Trace Eastern Africa, Homeboyz Radio, and NRG Radio, and has also been active in politics and youth advocacy.
His conversion marks a new chapter in his personal and spiritual life.
