Yussuf Mohamed Dekow has pledged to provide stronger, more effective and accountable representation to residents of Waberi Ward if elected Member of the County Assembly (MCA) in the 2027 General Election.
Yussuf Dekow said he would use his position in the Garissa County Assembly to champion the interests of residents and ensure Waberi receives its fair share of county resources and development programmes.
Mr. Dekow said his focus would extend beyond individual projects to include legislation, budget-making, oversight and representation, which are among the key responsibilities of a county assembly member.
He pledged to advocate for increased investment in essential county functions, including healthcare, water and sanitation, roads and drainage, early childhood development, markets, youth and women’s empowerment, sports, urban services and social protection.
He said effective representation should also involve pushing for better delivery of county services and ensuring that funds allocated to the ward translate into tangible improvements in residents’ lives.
“Waberi deserves a representative who will listen to the people, speak for them and follow up on their priorities. I want to provide representation that is accessible, accountable and focused on results,” Dekow said.
He further pledged to exercise his oversight mandate by demanding accountability in the implementation of county programmes and ensuring that public resources are used responsibly.
Dekow said he would also work with other MCAs to influence county policies and budgets in ways that promote equitable development across Garissa County, while ensuring that Waberi’s specific needs remain firmly on the county agenda.
Among the areas he aims to prioritise are improved healthcare services, reliable water supply, better roads and drainage infrastructure, support for early childhood education, improved market facilities, opportunities for young people and women, sports development, and stronger public participation in county decision-making.
He said residents should have greater opportunities to participate in determining development priorities and monitoring projects implemented with public funds.
Yussuf Mohamed Dekow is seeking to represent Waberi Ward in the 2027 elections, with a pledge to strengthen grassroots representation and build a more responsive relationship between residents and the county government.
