Nominated Member of Parliament Umulkheir Harun has joined Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders in Garissa in mobilising residents ahead of the 2027 General Election, as she seeks the Garissa County Women Representative seat.
The engagement comes as ODM steps up efforts to consolidate its grassroots support in North Eastern Kenya, with party leaders holding consultations and strengthening political networks across Garissa, Wajir and Mandera counties.
Umulkheir appealed to residents to support her bid for the Women Representative position, seeking an electoral mandate after serving in Parliament as a nominated member.
Her entry into the contest comes amid growing political activity in Garissa, where aspirants are engaging residents and building alliances ahead of the next general election.
The legislator reaffirmed the party’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the region while assuring aspirants that its nomination process will be free and fair.
The party has also reiterated its intention to maintain its association with President William Ruto’s administration while fielding its own candidates for other elective positions in 2027.
