A 26-year-old man has been charged before the Garissa Law Courts with allegedly publishing inciteful content on TikTok.
The suspect, Abdi Hassan Abdullahi, also known by the alias “Sharu”, appeared before Resident Magistrate Robert Lemayian on charges of incitement linked to social media posts allegedly shared on 23 April.
According to the prosecution, the suspect was arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) following investigations into messages allegedly promoting ethnic hatred and violence through his TikTok account.
Abdullahi denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of KSh200,000 or an alternative bond of KSh500,000 with one surety of a similar amount.
The case will be mentioned again on 23 July for further directions.
