DIG Masengeli Condoles with Families of Slain Chief and Teacher in Hulugho

Deputy Inspector-General of the Administration Police Service (DIG-APS) Gilbert Masengeli on Tuesday visited Hulugho Township in Garissa County to condole with the family of the late Chief Abdifatah Ghani of Boma Location, who was killed in an attack that has unsettled the area.

Representing Inspector-General of Police Douglas Kanja, Masengeli also met teachers and pupils at Hulugho Primary School to convey condolences following the killing of teacher Peter Musili. The two deaths occurred early Monday morning within the township.

In a message from the Inspector-General, Masengeli assured residents that multi-agency security teams are pursuing the suspects behind what he described as senseless killings, and urged the community to cooperate with security agencies by sharing information.

He later visited the chief’s widow, Aftina Shalle Wabi, as the government conveyed its sympathies. Chief Ghani was buried on Monday in line with Islamic rites.

Masengeli also held closed-door meetings with security officers, calling for heightened vigilance and proactive policing, particularly in the township and surrounding border areas.

He was accompanied by GSU commandant Ranson Lolmodooni and police spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, alongside officials from the Teachers Service Commission.
