NAIROBI — Garissa gubernatorial aspirant Amb. Abdi Dubat held consultations with members of the Awdak diaspora community in Nairobi as part of his ongoing outreach ahead of the 2027 county elections.
The meeting focused on unity, inclusive leadership, and priorities for Garissa County’s development.
Diaspora members shared views on governance, youth and women empowerment, economic opportunities, security, and improved service delivery.
Former Principal Secretary Amb. Dubat emphasized the importance of the diaspora in contributing ideas, resources, and expertise to the county’s growth.
He noted that their engagement is critical in shaping a shared development agenda for Garissa.
The Nairobi engagement forms part of a wider consultation process with community groups and stakeholders as the aspirant builds support for his gubernatorial bid.
Amb. Dubat is among top contenders for the 2027 Garissa Gubernatorial seat. Others include Amb. Ali Korane, Abdulkadir Mohamed Haji, Mohamed Moulid Shurie, Amb. Mohamed Shidiye and Ahmed Ibrahim Abass, popularly known as Bishar Ijara.
