Mr. Nasteh Buraze Honored as Community Peace Ambassador by Haki na Sheria Initiative

Mr. Nasteh Farah Mowlit, popularly known as Buraze, has been recognized as a Community Peace Ambassador by the Haki na Sheria Initiative (HSI) for his outstanding advocacy in promoting citizenship, nationality, peace, and security in Garissa County.

The award was presented by Mr. Warsame Mohamed, Program Manager of Haki na Sheria Initiative, during a ceremony held on Wednesday.

Haki na Sheria is a non-governmental organization headquartered in Garissa, focuses on ending discrimination, and advancing the rights of marginalized communities across Northern Kenya.

The group works to empower these communities to understand, claim, and exercise their human rights while fostering an equitable society free from violations.

Mr. Buraze, who serves as the Garissa County Youth Leader, was feted for his dedicated efforts in combating statelessness within the region.

His work has included assisting individuals in obtaining essential government documents such as birth certificates and navigating the vetting process to secure nationality and citizenship rights.

In addition to his contributions to citizenship justice, Mr. Buraze has championed environmental justice, raising awareness about environmental degradation and its effects on local communities.

He has empowered residents to assert their rights, ensuring environmental protection goes hand-in-hand with respect for community livelihoods and well-being.

He has also addressed critical issues affecting women in the region, including barriers to justice, limited access to education, and challenges in securing gainful employment.

Through his advocacy, Mr. Buraze has worked to create a more inclusive society where marginalized groups can live dignified lives free from human rights abuses.
