Wajir County is expected to get more stable electricity following new energy projects launched by the national government.
Governor Ahmed Abdullahi said the county is working closely with the Ministry of Energy to address power shortages and reduce rationing.
Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi visited the county to inspect ongoing projects.
During the visit, the CS launched a new power connection project at Bulla Kisumu through Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) to improve electricity access for residents.
The government has also increased power generation from 3MW to 5MW and plans to install a 6MW solar hybrid system.
Governor Abdullahi said the projects have already helped reduce power rationing in Wajir town.
He added that reliable electricity will help improve business, security and delivery of public services in the county.
