President Ruto Inspects Mombasa Infrastructure Projects as County Targets 200km of New Roads
President William Ruto has inspected major infrastructure projects in Mombasa County, highlighting ongoing efforts to expand and modernise transport, housing, water and electricity infrastructure on Thursday.
The President said the Government is implementing ambitious programmes aimed at creating a stronger foundation for investment, trade and economic opportunities across the country.
Dr. Ruto said the Government is undertaking the construction of 200 kilometres of roads at a cost of KSh70 billion as part of efforts to strengthen the county’s position as a regional logistics and economic hub.
He also inspected construction works at the Likoni Ferry passenger terminal, a major project expected to improve the movement of people and vehicles across the Likoni Channel.
The terminal is designed to handle up to 4,000 vehicles and 500,000 pedestrians daily when completed in March 2028.
The project will also include designated spaces for small-scale traders, providing an organised environment for businesses operating around the ferry crossing.
Ruto further inspected the 1,500-unit Likoni Heights Affordable Housing Project, which forms part of the Government’s wider affordable housing programme.
The President said the ongoing investments in infrastructure and housing are intended to support economic activity while improving access to essential services and creating employment opportunities.
