Wiper Patriotic Front Deputy Party Leader Siyat Osman Ngamia has declared that Garissa residents are increasingly receptive to political change, citing the large turnout during the party’s grassroots engagement in the county.
Siyat Ngamia thanked residents for turning out to welcome the Wiper delegation in an exclusive interview with The Radio and Television of Garissa (RTG) on Sunday.
The Garissa Township MP candidate said the response demonstrated a willingness among voters to consider alternative political leadership ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Mr. Siyat Ngamia said the turnout was largely driven by residents themselves, without extensive mobilisation by the party.
He said the reception also challenged the perception that Garissa is politically closed to outsiders, insisting that the county is part of Kenya and should remain open to all political parties and leaders.
“Garissa is Kenya. No one can be stopped from coming here, and no one owns Garissa,” he said.
Siyat Ngamia criticised the current leadership over what he described as inadequate service delivery and alleged misuse of public resources and young people in political activities.
He said residents deserve a government focused on improving livelihoods and infrastructure, particularly roads and markets.
The Wiper official also raised concerns about the region’s preparedness for heavy rains, saying several roads were already difficult to access and questioning the government’s plans to address the impact of the El Niño weather phenomenon.
Ngamia said Wiper would sustain its grassroots mobilisation in Garissa, with plans to hold public meetings across Fafi, Dadaab, Ijara, Balambala and Lagdera.
