Fresh mass kidnapping shocks north-eastern Nigeria

Armed assailants storm three schools in Borno, abduct children

Share:

More than 50 children, most aged between two and five years, have reportedly been abducted following coordinated attacks on three schools in Mussa town, Borno State, north-eastern Nigeria.

According to eyewitnesses and school staff, armed assailants stormed the Government Day Secondary School, Mussa Central Primary School, and a State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Primary School on Friday morning before fleeing with the children.

Residents described chaotic scenes as the attackers used the abducted children as human shields while escaping on motorbikes, preventing security forces from engaging them.

Authorities are yet to confirm the exact number of missing children or identify those behind the attacks.

Security forces have since been deployed to the area as rescue efforts continue.

The latest incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity in north-eastern Nigeria, where schools and civilians have repeatedly been targeted by armed groups in recent years.
