Football fans in Garissa are set for an exciting weekend as the inaugural Garissa Wazee Tournament officially kicks off on Saturday, 18 July 2026, at the San Siro Sports Center, bringing together veteran footballers aged 35 years and above for a celebration of the beautiful game.
The tournament is expected to showcase some of Garissa’s most respected football legends, many of whom are returning to the pitch to rekindle old rivalries while promoting friendship, fitness, and community unity through sport.
Eight teams have been drawn into two groups for the opening stage of the competition.
Group A comprises Ngamia Wazee, Black Stars Wazee, Al Rahma Wazee, and Man City Wazee, while Group B features Mo Town Wazee, Technical Wazee, Milano Wazee, and Real Legends Wazee.
The tournament is aimed at encouraging active lifestyles among older players while providing a platform for football enthusiasts to reconnect with the sport and inspire the younger generation.
The competition is also expected to strengthen social bonds within the community by bringing together former players, families, and supporters in a festive atmosphere centred on sportsmanship and healthy competition.
