Wajir Deputy Governor Ahmed Muhumed Abdi has been supervising ongoing drought-mitigation efforts across Wajir South, visiting towns including Madahlibah, Abore, Sala, Siriba, Shidley, and Athay-Dher.
During the tour, he oversaw the successful drilling of a new borehole in Siriba on Wednesday, a key milestone in improving access to clean and reliable water for the community.
The initiative underscores the leadership’s commitment to alleviating drought impacts, enhancing water security, and delivering timely services to affected areas.
According to the government, at least 2.1 million people are currently food insecure across the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs).
