The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) Garissa County Branch has launched the Future4Binti Project in Modogashe Sub-County through an inception meeting that brought together local leaders, religious scholars, women and youth representatives, and community stakeholders.

Garissa County Chairman Sheikh Hassan Abdi said the initiative marks the beginning of a programme aimed at empowering adolescent girls and young women through education, mentorship, life skills training, health awareness, and protection from harmful cultural practices.

Sheikh Hassan Abdi said the programme seeks to create a supportive environment where girls can achieve their full potential and actively contribute to the development of their communities.

He emphasized the need for collective responsibility in nurturing and protecting young girls, noting that investing in girls’ education, wellbeing, and leadership is critical in building peaceful, prosperous, and resilient societies.

“The future of our communities depends on how we empower and guide our young girls today. Through education, mentorship, and protection, we can create opportunities for them to thrive and become responsible leaders,” he said.

The Future4Binti initiative focuses on strengthening awareness of health and social issues affecting adolescent girls while promoting social and economic inclusion for young women in marginalized communities.

SUPKEM noted that the organization will leverage its grassroots networks and faith-based leadership structures to support programmes that strengthen families, promote social cohesion, and empower vulnerable groups across Garissa County.

The council reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with development partners, government agencies, and local communities to implement initiatives that uphold human dignity and create sustainable opportunities for young people.
