Ifitin Ward MCA aspirant Siyat Abdi Gedi has pledged to prioritise sports development as a key pillar of youth empowerment, promising to champion legislation, modernise sports facilities and expand funding for community clubs if elected in the 2027 General Election.
Mr. Gedi said investing in sports would help identify and nurture talent, create economic opportunities for young people and strengthen social cohesion across the ward.
He pledged to sponsor laws aimed at strengthening sports development and establishing a Sports Financing Bill to provide grants for registered clubs and community teams.
The aspirant also committed to lobbying for greater access to youth empowerment funds, including the Uwezo Fund, to support sports groups and unlock opportunities for talented young people.
“Our youth deserve opportunity,” Gedi said, describing sports as a catalyst for healthier communities and a pathway to employment and personal development.
His campaign agenda outlines four priorities: talent discovery, sports infrastructure, youth empowerment and building a stronger community.
The sports-focused pledge comes as political aspirants across Garissa County increasingly unveil issue-based manifestos ahead of the 2027 elections, with youth empowerment emerging as a central campaign theme.
He said the initiative will help address social challenges, such as drug and substance abuse, by keeping young people actively engaged in constructive activities.
Ifitin Ward MCA aspirant Siyat Abdi Gedi underscored the importance of discipline, consistency and focus in achieving success, drawing comparisons with elite athletes who dedicate time and effort to training.
