Former Garissa Governor and 2027 gubernatorial aspirant Ambassador Ali Korane hosted members of the Garissa County Ulamaa and Imams for a meeting at a restaurant in Nairobi following their visit to State House.
The Islamic scholars had earlier held talks with President William Ruto on issues affecting the Muslim community and national development.
Amb. Korane said the meeting provided an opportunity to appreciate the religious leaders for their longstanding friendship, guidance, and contribution to promoting peace, unity, and social cohesion in Garissa County.
He commended the Ulamaa for their moral leadership and urged them to continue fostering harmony while supporting community development initiatives.
Amb. Korane also called on the religious leaders to encourage eligible residents to acquire national identification cards and register as voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.
He said voter registration is essential to ensuring that citizens participate in shaping the country’s democratic future.
The former governor further appealed to the Muslim community to support President William Ruto’s bid for a second term, arguing that the current administration has demonstrated a commitment to engaging with and addressing issues affecting the Muslim community.
Korane also revealed that the Ulamaa reaffirmed their support for his 2027 gubernatorial bid, pledging continued prayers, guidance, and efforts to promote peaceful, issue-based politics in Garissa County.
He welcomed their commitment to strengthening unity among residents, saying collaboration between political and religious leaders is vital to advancing development and maintaining lasting peace in the county.
