The Ministry of Health has urged Kenyans to prioritise their wellbeing as they celebrate Christmas and usher in the New Year.
The Ministry warned that increased travel, social gatherings and consumption heighten the risk of preventable illnesses and injuries.
Public health principal secretary Mary Muthoni cautioned that food-borne illnesses often rise during the festive season.
PS Mary Muthoni advised the public to buy food from licensed premises, ensure meals are thoroughly cooked and observe proper hygiene.
She also urged moderation in alcohol consumption, warned against drug and substance abuse and stressed the importance of avoiding risky sexual behaviour.
The ministry, she said, will remain on high alert throughout the holiday period to safeguard public health.
