A new Multi-Sectoral Needs Assessment reveals that 97% of refugee and drought-affected households in Kenya require urgent humanitarian assistance.
The crisis follows below-average rainfall between October and December 2025, which caused severe livestock losses and crop failures.
Approximately 3.3 million people face acute food insecurity, particularly across Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Turkana, and Marsabit counties.
The report notes that 75% of affected families prefer direct cash transfers over food distributions to help rebuild their livelihoods.
