Garissa politician and former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) women’s representative flagbearer Mulki Warsame has called for greater investment in young people.
The 2027 GarissaWomen Representative hopeful urged youth across Garissa County to embrace education, sports and hard work as pathways to a better future.
The candidate sponsored the Astana Championship Tournament, which brought together 16 football teams in what she described as a celebration of football unity, talent and youth empowerment.
The tournament culminated in an entertaining final between Parma FC and Al Hayat FC, with Al Hayat FC emerging champions following a dramatic penalty shootout.
Mrs. Warsame congratulated the winners, finalists and all participating teams, saying their determination and sporting spirit contributed to the success of the tournament.
“For me, the Astana Championship was about more than football. It was about investing in our young people and believing in their potential,” Warsame said.
She said young people possess talent, ambition and dreams but require platforms where their abilities can be identified, nurtured and given opportunities to flourish.
According to Warsame, sporting activities can play an important role in bringing young people together, building confidence and discipline, promoting unity and providing positive alternatives to crime and substance abuse.

She urged the youth in Garissa to believe in themselves while pursuing education and developing their talents through sports.
Warsame also cautioned young people against crime, drugs and idleness, saying such activities undermine individual ambitions and the wellbeing of the wider community.
“Every young person has something valuable to offer, and we must create an environment where that potential can flourish,” she said.
The former UDA women’s representative flagbearer further linked her youth empowerment message to her political ambitions.
The leader envisions to continue championing initiatives that create opportunities for young people as she seeks to serve as Garissa County Women Representative in 2027.

Warsame said leadership should go beyond making promises, arguing that leaders should support communities and translate their visions into tangible initiatives.
“Leadership is not just about making promises—it is about standing with our people, supporting their aspirations, and turning our vision into meaningful action,” she said.
She called for collective efforts to invest in the youth, saying the future of Garissa depends heavily on creating opportunities for young people to succeed.
Mulki Warsame said continued investment in youth development could contribute to building a stronger, safer, united and more prosperous Garissa.
