Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has called on residents of Garissa County to strengthen community unity, support religious institutions, and actively participate in voter registration ahead of the 2027 General Election.
CS Duale led efforts to raise funds for the construction of Jamia Mosque and Madrassatul Tawba during a resource mobilization drive in Afwein, Garissa County.
Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said investment in religious and educational institutions is essential for building a morally upright and cohesive society.
The event attracted local leaders, religious scholars and members of the public, who gathered to support the initiative aimed at expanding spiritual and educational infrastructure in the area.
Mr. Duale said mosques and madrassas play a critical role beyond worship by nurturing moral values, promoting social cohesion and mentoring young people to become responsible citizens.
He also appealed for greater unity among leaders and residents across the region, urging them to work together in advancing development priorities and protecting the interests of the community.
The Cabinet Secretary further encouraged residents to continue supporting President William Ruto’s development agenda.
He argued that the government’s ongoing projects would deliver long-term benefits to the region.
He challenged eligible residents to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise. He said “increased voter turnout would strengthen the region’s influence in the 2027 General Election.”
“Our numbers matter. We must register as voters and ensure our community has a stronger voice in determining its future,” CS Duale said.
The fundraising event was attended by Mohammed Hussein, Imulkheir Harun, Garissa gubernatorial aspirants Mohammed Shidiye and Ahmed Abass, Dadaab parliamentary aspirant Jon Kherirow, parliamentary aspirants from Lagdera Constituency, Members of the County Assembly led by area MCA Hassan Geley, as well as other local leaders and community representatives.
The gathering put the spotlight on the growing role of community-led fundraising initiatives in supporting religious infrastructure.
It also provided leaders with an opportunity to engage residents on development, governance and civic participation ahead of the next electoral cycle.
