NAIROBI — Garissa county’s first radio and television network RTG Digital has launched an English-language TV program and digital show.
“RTG is already very strong on digital in Kenya, with over half the population listening to RTG at least once a week,” said Yunis Dekow, Chairman of Royal Hallan Service.
“Expanding into digital television news magazines allows our audience members to turn to RTG Digital for objective and balanced coverage in a medium that is becoming more popular in Kenya.”
The weekly 15-minute show, called RTG Preview can now be watched online and will be available to digital TV affiliate stations.
It includes a mix of Kenya, international, and regional news, as well as reports from local journalists in Jubaland, Somaliland, Puntland and Somalia.
A new episode will be available every Friday on a range of web and social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook and Twitter..
In addition to audiences in Somalia, diaspora communities around the world also tune in to RTG Digital, and have welcomed the new TV program.
“[We] have been waiting to finally watch this outstanding show in Northern Kenya,” said Siyad Jimale, executive director of the HARN Policy.
“Judging on the amount of interest within our community, I’m expecting this [program] will continue for a very long time and become very popular.”
