Former Balambala MP Abdikadir Omar Aden has withdrawn from the 2027 parliamentary race, saying the decision was made after wide consultations with his family, elders and key stakeholders.
Dr. Abdikadir said he opted to step aside to preserve community harmony and family unity, noting that it would not be in the best interests of the community for both himself and his maternal uncle, Major (Rtd) Dekow Mohamed, the current Garissa Township MP, to pursue elective seats simultaneously.
He said the move would allow him to refocus his efforts while maintaining cohesion within the wider family and the community.
Dr. Abdikadir thanked the people of Balambala for the opportunity to serve as their Member of Parliament between 2013 and 2017 and later as Kenya’s representative at the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) from 2017 to 2022.
Despite ending his parliamentary bid, he pledged to remain actively involved in community development and expressed his readiness to serve Kenya in other capacities where he can make a meaningful contribution.
He also expressed gratitude to his supporters for their continued trust and urged residents to remain united as they work towards the constituency’s future.
