Garissa civic leader and community mobiliser Noordin Badel Tube has officially declared his candidacy for the Garissa Township Ward seat after receiving unanimous endorsement from Mohamed Zubeer Gudi.
The backing is seen as a major boost to his political bid ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Mr. Badel, known for his long-standing work in youth sports, mentoring, and community empowerment, has used football and other initiatives to nurture talent, promote discipline, and foster social cohesion.
He has also been actively involved in peace-building efforts, education support, and advocacy for vulnerable groups, highlighting his inclusive approach to community development.
Mr. Badel described the endorsement as a recognition of years of voluntary service.
“This endorsement is not just about politics; it is a recognition of the service I have offered to the people of Garissa.”
He pledged to intensify grassroots engagement across Township Ward and consult widely with residents, civil society organisations, and professional groups to shape an inclusive development agenda.
Mr. Hussein Hassan, a voter in Township noted that his strong community profile and early declaration could significantly influence the ward’s political landscape.
