Mohamed Ismail Adow has signalled his intention to contest the Danyere Ward Member of County Assembly seat in the 2027 General Election, pitching a campaign built around youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and information and communications technology (ICT).
In an interview with RTG Digital, Adow said his background as a business administrator and ICT professional is the experience he would take into public office.
He framed youth opportunity as the main reason he is entering the race, pointing to unemployment, limited enterprise support and weak access to practical skills as issues that continue to shape the lives of young people in Danyere and across the country.
With an ICT background, Adow is tying his message to the growing role of technology in education, business and work.
He said his campaign would focus on digital skills, technology-based entrepreneurship, access to information and pathways for young people into the digital economy.
His business administration experience forms the second pillar of that pitch. Speaking to RTG Digital, he presented that background as relevant to local economic questions, especially opportunities for young people and small-business operators.
At the county level, MCAs are responsible for legislation, representation and oversight. Ward representatives help scrutinise county programmes and speak for residents in the County Assembly. Adow said he wants to turn his professional experience into a ward-level agenda on those fronts.
Danyere is one of the wards in Balambala Constituency, Garissa County. The sitting MCA is Idris Ismail Aden of the United Democratic Movement, elected in 2022. Adow is seeking the seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
His early positioning places youth, enterprise and technology at the centre of the message he is taking to Danyere voters.
The 2027 contest is still at an early stage. Voters will ultimately weigh the candidates, their programmes and their records as the race develops.
