Garissa Township Member of Parliament Dekow Barrow has reaffirmed his commitment to improving learning infrastructure after inspecting the ongoing construction of a modern multi-storey dormitory at Garissa High School.
He was speaking during the school’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), which brought together parents, teachers and the Board of Management in Garissa on Saturday.
MP Barrow said the project marks a significant investment in the future of learners and reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing education standards.
The MP said the new dormitory, once completed, will accommodate up to 600 students, helping to ease congestion and provide learners with a safer, more comfortable and conducive living environment.
“This is a major investment in the future of our children. Our goal is to ensure that students learn and live in an environment that supports academic excellence and personal development,” Barrow said.
He noted that Garissa High School, as a National School, deserves modern infrastructure that reflects its status and enables students to compete effectively with their counterparts across the country.
Barrow reiterated his commitment to supporting the expansion and modernization of educational facilities within Garissa Township, saying quality infrastructure is essential to improving learning outcomes.
He also commended the school’s administration, teachers, parents and Board of Management for their continued dedication to providing quality education and supporting ongoing development projects.
The MP urged stakeholders to continue working together to ensure the timely completion of the dormitory, expressing confidence that the new facility will enhance students’ welfare and contribute to improved academic performance.
He said the project forms part of broader efforts to strengthen education infrastructure in Garissa Township and create a conducive learning environment for students pursuing quality education.
